HTV (Konotori)

H-II Transfer Vehicle (こうのとり, JAXA)

Developed in the 90s by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and flown for the first time September 10th, 2009, the HTV would fly resupply missions to the ISS and the Kibo Japanese Experiment Module (JEM).

It was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Flights 1, 2 and 4 used Aerojet/Marquardt R-4D and R-1E RCS engines, with further flights powered by the IHI Aerospace HBT-5 and HBT-1 engines.

Unable to return to earth after use, it also helped dispose of ISS trash while burning up in the atmosphere. It successfully flew 9 times without failures. Soon to be succeeded by the larger HTV-X and perhaps the lunar HTV-XG.
